Amaying
Now I am old
And time is but a breeze
All that’s been told
Lies over the lilies
Through the window
I see a coil of drops
Crossing the glow
That rises from the crops
And the skies, and the valleys
And all my eyes trespass
Seem filled with emptiness
While time is but a breeze
Remember when
We used to go amaying,
The chants of wrens
– Those men, what were they playing?
Who were they? – say,
The sky, was it so clear?
Where did we lie
My love, when you were here?
Stare at these quiet settings,
That hidden, sunken sun
Can you remember anyone
From the times we went amaying?
So now I long
From this land to depart
But soft’s the song
That echoes in my heart
Through the window
I see the evening swaps
A silent crow
Blesses the glowing crops
And the skies, and the valleys
And all my eyes trespass
Seem filled with emptiness
While time is but a breeze
Stare at these sunken settings,
That hidden, quiet sun
Can you remember anyone
From the times we went amaying?
