Boycott
(John Raymond Pollard)
2004-09-13

I'd never heard a word about the boycott
'till someone said we would be free.
And there were many things we had not.
The list is longer now of what we need.

Where are the fruits of revolution?
When will the lost lives to be redeemed?
I hope we find a fine solution,
So someday everyone is free.

I marvel at the hallowed forest
And sun light filtered through the trees
I hear today's avian chorus
And feel the cooling breeze.

A beggar passed by; he was raving.
He kicked a piece of paper down the street.
Guess we all want a little power
And need somebody at our feet.

I'll take my rod down to the river
And cast my line to find something to eat.
Fish and yucca make a lovely dinner.
The good earth gives us everything we need.

I marvel at the hallowed forest
And sun light filtered through the trees
I hear today's avian chorus
And feel the cooling breeze.

I'd never heard a word about a boycott
'till someone said we would be free.
And there were many things we had not.
The list is longer now of what we need.
