Starting at the dawn of the industrial revolution
Smokestacks have disgorged deadly gases
Factories dump toxic wastes into rivers and streams
Cars guzzle fossil fuels, foul air with detritus
Noxious emissions cloud our vision
Lakes are poisoned with pesticides
100 species to be driven to extinction each day
By the 21st century the pollution's doubled
Bringing about the likelihood of mass destruction
Noxious emissions cloud our vision
We're warned of our consequences, no attention is paid
Ignore till the path of destruction is laid
One must do things different in out everyday lives
We must change our habits if this planet's to survive
Careless bastards - rape and plunder
Our wasteful ways must become a thing of the past
Recycle more, procreate less, use mass transit
We owe this much to the unborn generations
Who will one day inherit the earth
