Life’s not fair
Thank God for that
If that were the case we’d all return to dust
My soul would pay the unbearable price
My spirit would linger only to give my pain a face
We don’t deserve the life that we have been given
We have paid all our dues with dust and ash
We’re buying debt on credit and it can not last
If this van crashes I hope I fly through the glass
I hope my mind opens up to expose the thoughts I can’t quite get out
I don’t really care if I die
But I refuse to die for nothing
We don’t deserve it
It is a gift
We’re all beggars
And we’re homeless at that
Take that crown from your head and replace it with dust and ash
If I ever get to heaven
It will have nothing to do with what I’ve done
Take me back, oh you ancient gates
