Aurallaura - The Sea and She Lyrics

A wooden raft
haphazard craft
buoyed by curiosity, and boy she's curious indeed...

Set out to find the forgotten cities,
granted passage through the blissful in-between,
adrift in the Kingdom of azure green.

Most of the time it's just she
and the grand grey-ed Sea,
who escorts her wherever she dreams to be
for he takes whimsy very seriously.
Ever abroad
the two are decidedly odd
and charmed company.

------

But below a blue moon
in the heart of a storm
when the troubled waves tremble
and night winds assemble in ghostly forms,

The Sea will raise his stately neck,
and he'll sigh a mournful sigh
when he lays that great head on deck.

Oh hold her steady,
the mast is already rocking back and forth!
Please hold her steady
oh she's already rocking back and forth!

His pearly beard will fan wide
and in this sudden aside
the cresting tide will come to rest on her tenuous shore.

----

"Cradle him in your wooden hands
for you are so far from sight of land..."

----

Alas the Sea will then,
Oh but he will again.
Oh he'll slip out these slits in salty drops,
mourning the aching adult loneliness
that has only this vessel
-wasteful though it is-
only this haphazard craft,
in which to empty his burdensome hope.
