I lay awake in my bed as the first flakes of snow
fell on my neck.
Windows and walls were closing;
opening eyes to the world from which you came.
We spun a web, with light from the moon and shadows of darkened paths,
held in time as tales of an ocean never revealing depths.
I was alone inside my head.
You were a rose in winter's breath.
We were the stones from ancient steps
breaking free and tumbling fast.
Caught in the wind was a snow covered rose on a fence
you stopped to hold
within your eyes; a treasure
glistening white winter light on hidden roads.
We spun a web, with light from the moon and shadows of darkened paths,
held in time as tales of an ocean never revealing depths.
On a white night
I was alone inside my head.
You were a rose in winter's breath.
We were the stones from ancient steps
breaking free and tumbling fast
on a white night.
