Took myself out and erased my path
Blackened out the writing, replaced my name.
We can pass through and empty our hands
Or change our minds and go back.
My head is high, my mouth is silent,
But in my soul I feel life flowing like rivers.
We try to keep our hearts free
From the fever that drowns all sober thoughts away
I will not be as one kept in bit and bridle
With no understanding for us all
And still I feel, a hiding place
When I look down and see dust and bone at my feet.
It does not cross rivers, or oceans, or lakes
But love is deep, so when it cracks it trembles
And crumbles you from within.
