There's a Ten Ton Octopus lying on the floor
Says "who you calling octopus?" sinks and sleeps some more
He's a sedimental octopus, heavy on my brain
Oh the Ten Ton Octopus is driving me insane
Now, the 'Pus, he's got three keys for every limb
He says they keep things open, but man, they weigh down on him
He was a jingle jangle octopus, but winter stole the door
Doesn't think he matters anymore! Owwwowwwbububbubbubbbbowww!
Now this Thing Called Springtime, thinks that it's a rose
Nuzzles up to the Octopus and bubbles up his nose
And the Ten Ton Octopus rises up and grows
He swells out great big waves to crash the shore
He repeats, "I don't matter anymore!"
And he sinks back to the ocean floor
But the Thing Called Springtime yanks him back again
Joins him in my brain
Now this Thing Called Springtime's driving me insane

Excellent liar
Shine like a cup of wire
Take me out & fool me into the morning
Sun going down
You'll simply turn around
& fool me into thinking this is the morning
one last look is no last look is no last look at all
Paint me a scene
rooftops & plasticine
to fool me into seeing what I've got eyes for
excellent luck
stained by the gray that stuck
your fingernails can feel the trace I've no eyes for
something gets forgotten that's what the lie's for
take me out to steal the pink of the moon
You can not shatter
you deal with supple matter
that warms to the hand
I am not supple
until you keep me warm
for a couple days unshaped but displaced
by your copper rays
So you you see
nothing but wires in me
we'll take them out & shape them into the morning
yeah, we'll lay them out & read the sign of a warning
in the coppery liar
plasticine veined with wire
wake me up, we'll drink a cup in the morning
dropping off to see me without a warning
drop me off below the light of the moon
